Architectural and Spatial Environment of the Labytnangi City Center: Problems and Prospects for Development in Conditions of the Far North

Abstract

This article discusses a small northern town – Labytnangi and its central part. The town is actively developing and requires special attention to the formation of the central part of the town taking into account the needs of the population. The article describes the complex natural and climatic conditions specific to this area, as well as the current social and functional fullness of the town and the socio-cultural characteristics of the town’s population, the planning structure of the town and the centre as its main part, the transport and pedestrian situation and the architectural and spatial environment of the centre. Labytnangi is a small town beyond the Arctic Circle that is actively developing, and accordingly, its central part, which reflects the social, cultural and functional level of development of the local population, needs to be developed. The article concludes by summing up the description and analysis of the current situation, identifying problem areas in the development of the territory and the socio-cultural life of the population, and proposing a solution to the problems identified in the article.
