Abstract
This article explores the functional, typological, spatial, and architectural-urban planning roles of multifunctional complexes in the formation of Novosibirsk's new city center in the Oktyabrsky District from the late 1990s to the mid-2020s. Multifunctional complexes are classified by their primary functional types and their compositional-urban planning role within the existing development. Patterns in the placement of complexes of different functional types are identified, as well as the key architectural-urban planning principles applied by their designers. The study is based on in-kind surveys and mapping of the existing development. The practical significance of the study stems from the urgent task of analyzing significant architectural-urban planning changes that have occurred in Novosibirsk's development over the past decades and identifying the role of new building types, including multifunctional complexes, in this process.
