Abstract

Glocalization of design objects is associated, among other things, with the use of traditional decorative and applied art. As a unique traditional craft, Chinese lacquer art has more than 8000 years of history. Its development reflects not only inheritance, but also innovation, as well as social and cultural changes. Its ancient origins, prosperity, and peak in the Ming and Qing dynasties have created a huge foundation of cultural heritage, and its decline is just one of the stages of development as lacquer art is reborn in the modern digital age. Lacquer art products serve as examples of modern craft and design, creating a new material context not only in China.
